Self Care Rituals for Everyone

Self care is SO important. Our lives can be very stressful and hectic, especially right now. This usually leads to us putting ourselves on the back burner. Self care rituals are essential for our health & well being. Doing this can reduce stress and anxiety, and will keep you healthy. I love showing myself some self love by taking time for me to relax and recharge. There are so many ways to do this! Our minds, bodies, and souls need this time.

I know it can be challenging to make time for ourselves with life, work, and other distractions. Sometimes we even feel guilty for taking time we need to relax. That’s totally normal, especially in our society where we are going non-stop. This is your sign to change that, and start adding in time for self care!

  • Taking a bath: This is my favorite way to relax and reconnect with myself. I love throwing in some lavender oils and bath salts into the tub, and lighting some candles. I usually bring in my crystals and journal to do some journaling or manifesting. I tend to get really great ideas in the bath, so I like to keep my journal handy. I recommend doing a guided meditation as well - I love the Simple Habit App. This is the perfect combination for total relaxation.

  • Exercise: This one is a given. We need to move our bodies and exercise at least a few times a week, if possible. There are numerous health benefits to staying active and exercising, even if it’s only 10 minutes a day. I have been finding it hard to stay motivated during the pandemic, especially with the gyms being closed. I have learned the art of home workouts and found some great Instagram accounts/Youtube channels for inspiration. Some of my favorite Instagram workout accounts are: Krissy Cela, Whitney Simmons, Cristina Capron, and Stef_fit. Check them out for yourself & give it a try!

  • Yoga: There are so many amazing benefits to doing yoga. Not only will you get a good stretch in, but you will become grounded and centered. I try to do yoga a few times a week, and love watching Youtube videos. My absolute favorite channel is Yoga with Adriene. She has so many different types of videos and makes it a fun experience!

  • Journaling: This is a great way to get out how you are feeling. I love to write out my thoughts because it helps me clear my mind, and feel better. You can journal about anything - what you’re grateful for, what’s bothering you, what questions you have, etc. You will feel so much clearer after getting your thoughts down on paper. This is also a great technique for those who have anxiety or worry a lot (like me). I have found this to be therapeutic and I feel less anxious after writing out what I am thinking. Keep an eye out for some journals that I will be making to sell soon!

  • SLEEP: We all need sleep. Most adults need about 7 to 9 hours of sleep per night. Having enough sleep comes with great benefits for our emotional, physical, and mental states. When we don’t get enough, it can be hard for us to be focused and function properly. Before going to bed, make sure to stay away from sugar or caffeine because that will make it harder to sleep. Try some chamomile tea or melatonin to help you fall asleep easier. With proper sleep, you will be feeling your best and ready for your day!

  • Protect your gut: Gut health is so important, and I’ve been learning a lot about this recently. Our guts absorb what we put into our bodies, and will affect how we feel mentally & physically. It’s important to make sure you are eating a balanced diet, and three meals a day. Remember - it really is all about balance! If you want to get a double double with animal fries from In n Out one day, do it! It’s all about maintaining a healthy diet for 80% of the time. That doesn't mean you have to restrict yourself, just be mindful of the foods you are consuming. I love taking probiotics daily to help with digestion, and adding healthy bacteria. Adding in multivitamins is also a great way to make sure you are getting all the vitamins you need.

I really hope you can take some time out of your week to do some self care. Your body, mind, and soul needs it! This will also prevent burnout and keep you feeling happy. If you struggle with finding time for yourself, schedule in at least 10 minutes a week and work your way up. You are worth it! Here are some awesome products to add to your self care routine -
